Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Camilo Cantu was one of the best accordionists to come out of Central Texas and drew huge crowds at La Polkita, an outdoor music venue southeast of Austin. He never recorded, retired in the early 1960s, and gave all his songs to his protege, Johnny Degollado.

On this album, Degollado plays a variety of songs by Cantu's contemporaries as well as his own compositions in the style of Cantu. For those who have always wondered - and there are many - this album seeks to answer the question "What did Camilo Cantu sound like?"
